Q. How big is the finished boat?
A. 12 feet long and 4 feet wide.
Q. How much does the finished boat weigh?
A. It depends on the precise materials you use, but you’re looking at approximately 70lbs for the finished boat.
Q. Can I put a motor on the boat?
A. Yes – people have had success putting a small electric motor on the boat, and you could probably also use a small gas motor (say 4hp or less). Let me know how you get on.
Q. How quickly will I receive the plans?
A. The duck boat plans are in a PDF document that you can download on your computer and print out. So you can have the plans in your hand just 5 minutes after placing your order!
Q. How much weight can the boat hold?
A. I don’t know the maximum, because no-one’s ever tested it until it sank… but I can tell you that the boat should comfortably hold two hunters and a dog.
Q. How much does it cost to build the duck boat?
A. In most cases the materials cost around $350-$400, although you can save yourself a bit of money if you shop around.
Q. Can I send in my photos?
A. Yes please! I’d love to expand my gallery – just send an email to help at diyduckboat.com and I’d be delighted to see photos of your finished boat – and if you’re standing proudly beside it that would be even better!
